Whiterock Pier

I was at home looking out my window to see what the sky looked like.  The clouds were breaking with the wind whipping around, and the sun was coming up.  Like usual, I took the chance and sped down to the pier in Whiterock.  I have shot this pier a lot over the time I have lived in this area, and I keep going back to it because it is so iconic, and because the light changes from season to season.  I love winters as I can sleep in a bit to catch the sunrises.  I was pleased the lights were on.  I found it interesting that the boats and the government wharf is gone.  It simplified the composition even more, but at the same time eliminated that sense of scale that the boats gave earlier images.

I have been a carpenter, a teacher, an auto-body man, and had other positions in my life, but foremost I have been an artist for most of my life.  Photography is an extension of my creativity.
